In 2000, the Scoutcraft area introduced to Camp Bradley the campfire skit
"Smooth and Creamy," in which the actors prance gleefully around the stage,
toting canisters of whipped cream with them, and singing "Smooth and Creamy, we
like smooth and creamy, smooth and creamy, this is how we play!" And then
proceed to, just as gleefully, smear it all over themselves and each other,
asking each other after each round "Where do you want it?" Meanwhile, the
audience claps along with the beat, and howls with laughter. It's great to
get the campfire started.
Jaime, an RIT at the time, was one of the actors, and moved to aquatics the next year.
And in his characteristic enthusiasm, wanted to carry on the skit. But he
needed some loony to do the skit with him, and
he somehow managed to convince me that I should get most of the whipped cream on
myself. I never quite figured out how he pulled that off.
Anyway, after doing that a for a couple weeks, we got it into our
heads to take it one step further, and asked Laurie to make us a bowl of
chocolate pudding for the campfire. Of course she did, but without knowing
exactly what we wanted it for. We did the skit as normal, and got everyone
who knew about the pudding a little confused. Then, after a couple of more
skits, we came prancing onto the stage from either side, with as much pudding as
we could hold cupped in our hands, singing "Chocolate pudding, we like
chocolate pudding, chocolate pudding, this is how we play," and threw the
pudding into our own faces. I heard a loud splat resembling that of
someone doing a bellyflop, and the entire audience groaning in disgust.
It was everywhere. On my uniform (he had been smart enough
to take his off), all over the back wall of the stage, in our ears, up our
noses, and, by the end of the campfire, on a lot more people's clothes. It
was a brief moment of enthusiastic insanity, but Chocolate Pudding is gone.
